Celebrity baker Paul Hollywood and his estranged wife Alexandra have been granted a decree nisi. However, the pair has yet to reach an agreement over finance, as the chef has refused to grant his former spouse half of his £10 million fortune.
Neither the Great British Bake Off star nor Alexandra was at the hearing at the Central Family Court in London last Friday (July 19th), when district judge Robert Duddrige granted a divorce decree.
The hearing took less than one minute, and represented the first step in ending the 19-year marriage between the 53-year-old and his estranged wife.
However, before the marriage can be completely dissolved, the couple have to reach an agreement regarding their finances.
Alexandra is entitled to half of Paul’s worth, as well as the £2.4 million home they own in Kent where she currently lives with their teenage son.
However, the reality TV star is refusing to part ways with the substantial amount of cash, despite being accused of ‘adultery’ in the legal documents.
A source told the Mail on Sunday: “Paul isn’t prepared to give Alex the reasonable sum that she is entitled to at this stage. She had hoped it would be straightforward but it is now far from that.”
He had an affair in 2013 with American chef Marcela Valladolid, after which the married couple remained together. However, the marriage crumbled in 2017 and Paul moved on with 24-year-old barmaid Summer Monteys-Fullam.
Hollywood is not the only famous name ending his marriage after two decades, as former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne recently announced he was separating from his wife Frances after 21 years of marriage.
